Recycling Tomorrow
James Recycling (https://jshrecycling.com/) will be accepting items tomorrow, Saturday, Aug 13, from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm at Columbia Sportswear Headquarters, 14370 NW Science Park Drive.
They accept the kinds of things that you can’t put in your curbside recycling, such as clamshell containers and styrofoam.

School Supply Giveaway
WakeUp Beaverton! is hosting their annual school supply giveaway on August 19, 20, 26, and 27. WakeUp Beaverton! thrives in providing educational support services and distributional resources for BIPOC, immigrant and refugee, and underserved families in Beaverton.
All of the supplies have been donated. Now they need you to volunteer! Volunteer duties include picking up supply kits at Fanno Creek/ table setup/Hosting WakeUp Beaverton! booth/ Oregon Food Bank distribution site/ OHA vaccination clinic, and clean-up on the final day. Instructions and other information will be emailed.

WFWA School Supplies Drive
A message from Merry G:
Western Farm Workers Association has their latest newspaper out, so please take one from the greeting table in the Sanctuary building.
We are collecting school supplies for our members' children. The sorting and distribution will be on August 27th. Every child will receive a backpack with as many of the required items as we are able to provide, according to the list for each class.
Items can be dropped off at the church, or call Merry Goldthorpe to pick them up from your home or office. My home number is 503-690-1908, and my cell is 503-840-7410. Pick up a few items when you are out shopping, and help these kids get a good start to the year. I appreciate your support and thank you.

Hagg Lake August 21
In less than two weeks, we will have our annual worship service at the lake!
If you have never attended, you’re in for a treat! We have all the usual worship elements - live music, prayer, and loving fellowship - but at Sain (covered) Pavilion, with fresh air, by a lake.

The guest speaker this year is Donna James, the associate pastor of Water Church in Bend. The retreat promises to bring you respite from your everyday life.
The retreat runs from 4:00 pm on Friday until 11:00 am on Sunday. The cost, including all meals, is $150. If you are unable to stay overnight, come all day Saturday for only $75 (BLD included!)

This group is responsible for preparing beverages and snacks for Sunday morning worship. A rotating schedule, prepared by the team leader, ensures that there’s always coffee available (yes!) and that everyone on the team gets a Sunday off when desired.

Big Thanks to HBH Volunteers
Nineteen Westsiders and friends were on hand Saturday to build walls for Help Build Hope.
Our three teams completed 12 of the total walls in about three hours. Then all the walls were loaded onto a trailer to be driven to Boise, Idaho. Once there, they will be assembled into a house through Habitat for Humanity.
Recipients are required to invest ‘sweat equity’ into their new homes. So messages to them were written on each wall.
