Join us tonight, Apr 7, at 7:00 pm for our Good Friday service. West Portland and Vermont Hills UMCs will be part of our gathering for this moving remembrance of Christ’s last words on the cross. The service will also be online.
Known as a tenebrae service, we will begin in light and slowly move toward darkness. If you are attending online, you may want to prepare to dim the lights or blow out candles around you.
Bring the kids to church! We’re having an Easter egg hunt this Sunday, Apr 9, after worship. Don’t forget your camera and a basket if you have one.
Worship begins at 10:00 am, both in-person and online. Childcare is available during the service for those five and younger.
Happy Easter!
The Greater Northwest Area (GNW) will install its recently assigned Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth on May 20, during a service live-streamed for the area from Juneau, Alaska.
To welcome Bishop Cedrick, the GNW Worship Team is commissioning a custom quilted stole using fabric from around the area. They are inviting each local church and ministry to send one 2"x2" fabric square in the color and pattern of your choice.
Please bring your fabric square to church by Easter, so that it may be mailed.
Every effort will be made to include every swatch, representing more than 400 churches and ministries Bishop Cedrick now shepherds in the GNW.
We are hosting Family Promise April 16-22.
There is one family in residence now and one family is expected to arrive this week.
We are to provide at least two hot meals for dinner that week, and gift cards for two nights. The meals will be family style, enough for both families. There are no allergies right now and all meals are welcome, but not spicy. We will provide each family with a $75 Visa gift card that they can use for groceries or restaurant meals.
If you can provide a hot meal on Thursday, Apr 20, please contact Bonnie B.
Donations for the gift cards may be made by check or PayPal to the church with Family Promise noted. Thank you!

This Sunday, Mar 26, we will observe UMCOR Sunday, one of the UMC’s Special Giving Sundays.
UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, brings aid to communities and individuals whose lives have been overturned by fires, wars, and other disasters. UMCOR also works globally to address the root causes of hunger, poverty, and illnesses such as malaria.
Your donation this Sunday will underwrite UMCOR’s ‘cost of doing business,’ allowing UMCOR to keep the promise that 100% of any gift to a specific UMCOR project will go towards that project.
You may write a check to Westside (indicate UMCOR), give through our website, or give online directly to UMCOR. Thank you for your generosity!
Thank you to all who helped make the Lighthouse shine on Sunday! Great teamwork led to great results!
The Lighthouse Keepers team will be meeting soon. Please let Stephanie R or the office know if you would like to help out occasionally, on your schedule, to maintain the brilliance.
Please join us after worship this Sunday, March 19, to do a thorough cleaning of the Lighthouse.
This building is used by several outside groups, so it could use a little TLC. The usage fees provide a small but steady income for the church.
There will be a task list posted. Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your rubber gloves and/or anything else that you like to clean with.
Thank you for your help!
