HomePlate on Thursday

We will be serving a hot meal at HomePlate Youth Services on Thursday, Jan 11. 

If you would like to contribute, please bring french bread (garlic or plain) and/or bottled waters (flavored or plain) to church this Sunday. You may also donate towards purchasing the main entree.

Youth Prayer-a-thon

Tigard UMC and Westside youth are partnering with Portland First UMC and Christ UMC in a prayer-a-thon on Saturday, Jan 13, from 6-11 p.m.

Youth will be divided into small groups and the groups will take turns praying for the entire 5 hours. We are asking our churches to submit prayer requests for the youth. You can submit them electronically at https://forms.gle/mBzhCXxjEiBqEA1X8

Choir Rehearsals Resume

We hope you had a joyous Christmas and a wonderful beginning to 2024!

Choir rehearsals will resume on Tuesday, Jan 9. The weekly rehearsals are from 7:30 - 8:45 pm.

HomePlate Dinner

Once a month, we cook and serve a hot meal to the youth at HomePlate Youth Services. 

Our next service day is on Thursday, Jan 11. 

Please contact Bonnie if you’re interested in volunteering, or help purchase the food with a donation marked for HomePlate.

Red Cross Blood Drive

Sign-up has begun for our next blood drive on Tuesday, Feb 13, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. The need for blood is constant, but only 3 percent of the U.S. population donates. If you have been turned away before, please visit the Red Cross website to see if you are now eligible. It takes less than an hour, but can help save the lives of up to three patients!

Greeter Needed for 4th Sunday

We’re looking for a new greeter for the fourth Sunday of every month.  You would join a team of eight - two persons each Sunday - so you would greet only once a month, and occasionally when there’s a 5th Sunday if you’re available.

One Service this Sunday

Since Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, we will have only one service that day - at 4:00 pm.

We hope that you can join us this Sunday. It will be a beautiful service of music, candlelight, and communion. Invite one person who may not have a church family to celebrate with.

A Reminder

We need all the items brought to church by this Sunday, Dec 17. Please note that a few food items need to be refrigerated; please let Bonnie know when you arrive.

It’s not too late to contribute to the Christmas baskets. There are two separate sign-ups - one for food and one for gifts. You may also donate towards the purchase of items (please indicate on your check or online gift.)

Let’s try to get at least one gift for every child. Gifts are to be wrapped with the child’s number (1-11) on the tag. Please do not put any names on the “from” portion.

Bonnie will need help boxing and delivering the items to families on the afternoon of Friday, Dec 22. Please let her know if you can help.

Last Chance to Help

It’s not too late to volunteer to help at one of these events:

• This Friday, December 15, Toy Sort at Hillsboro United Methodist church. Gifts are bagged and labeled by family.

• This Saturday, December 16, Family Holiday Party at HUMC--dinner, children's crafts, and gift distribution.

• Saturday, December 23: Christmas Food Distribution at Reedville Presbyterian Church. Food will be sorted, bagged, and delivered to homes.
