Don’t forget to RSVP for the Food & Wine Pairing fundraiser this Sunday at 4:00 pm in the Lighthouse. A donation of $25 per person is suggested, but we would like everyone to be able to attend; please pay only what you can afford. If you would like to pay extra for others to attend, please do. RSVP today at https://westsidejourney.breezechms.com/form/foodwine so that enough food is prepared.
Sandy Holt and Ruth Garvin, owner of Cliff Creek Cellars, will provide you with a tasty afternoon. The wine and food pairings will be:
White Rhone Region blend of Marsanne, Roussanne Viognier (MRV $30) & Caesar Salad
Dry Rose ($30) & Cedar Planked Salmon Spread on Crostini
Red Red Wine ($19.99) & Mushroom Puffed Pastry Pinwheel
Cabernet Franc ($40) & Savory Meatball with Marinara
Syrah ($40) & French Onion Soup Tart
Ruth will have the wines available for sale and is generously donating 30% of sales to the fundraiser! In addition, Sandy will have recipes for the food items available for you.
This is an adult event, but like in the winery tasting room, children may attend if childcare is an issue.
All proceeds will go to Westside, to benefit the WUMC Family Camp.
Let’s roll up our sleeves and save some lives!
An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. It takes about an hour and can help save up to three lives.
Our next blood drive is on Tuesday, Nov 19, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Lighthouse. Sign up today at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=WestsideUMC
As an added bonus, come to give Nov. 18-Dec. 8, 2024, for two pairs of custom FRIENDS + American Red Cross socks, while supplies last. Keep a pair and give a pair to a friend. Help spread the word about how important – and easy – donating blood is!
Each year, HomePlate Youth Services strives to host an event called Holiday Store. Holiday Store provides young people the opportunity to practice generosity, a key pillar at HomePlate. This empowering activity can provide not only a happier holiday season for our youth and their families, but supports youth to be caring, generous, and civically engaged citizens for our community.
Check out this year's gift list or their Amazon Wishlist for inspiration about what to donate! Financial contributions are always welcome too - more than half of our holiday store items come from donated items, so cash/check donations will contribute to purchasing more gifts for youth to choose from!
Please bring your new, unwrapped gift to church by December 1. Items should be $20 or less to ensure equal distribution of gifts. Checks should be marked Holiday Store.
Thank you!
